The Best Summer Science Project Ever

So Sara came home on June 14th with Seven caterpillars. She put them in a jar with a few branches and they immediately started crawling up the branches and hung up side down. We didn't think any thing about it, until the next morning when we woke up to this. In fact I am kind up sad they turned so quickly because we didn't get a picture of the caterpillars. Next time if there ever is a next time I will take pictures immediately.
The tops of the cocoons are the caterpillars skin coming off. A few weeks later we were wondering if they would ever change, but we woke up one morning to a few butterflies getting out of the cocoons. It was so awesome to watch.
When all seven were hatched it got a little squishy inside the jar so we carefully pulled out the branches and put them inside a card board box so that they could have room to dry their wings and fly a way.

This is the butterfly with the wings spread open.
Two of them flew in the house and so the kids and I got them and put them back in the box so they could fly a way. This one had a hurt wing and so Ty decided to get a picture holding it.
It is amazing how nature works and how miraculous our creator is. It is simply amazing and mind boggling.
