BYU vs. Utah Basketball game

Baptism Day

Tyler is such a handsome 8 year old in his suit.

Family picture time!! Before heading over to the Stake Center we had a to take a few pictures.
Grandpa Lemon came over and timed Tyler holding his breath making sure he would be able to hold it long enough to get baptized. Nicole and Ben joined in as well and it became a contestNikki won.

Tyler and Craig all dressed in white on this very special day. I am so proud of Tyler and his decision he made to be baptized. He made this decision a very long time ago, and was glad the day finally came.

During the baptism program Grandma Lemon gave the talk about baptism. She related it to sports and that these past 7 years in his life he has been red shirting (preparing) to be on the Lords team. The talk couldn't have been more perfect. Then Craig baptized him, followed by myself giving the talk on the Holy Ghost. He was then confirmed. It was such a special day full of support from family and friends.

After the baptism we went to our house for food, and then at 2 p.m. Tyler, Craig, Sara, Steve, Whitnee, and Austin Woodhouse headed to the BYU vs. Utah basketball game. While I went to the church to set up for the ward sweethearts party.

Tyler finally turns 8

After all that Tyler did last week before his actual birthday, his real birthday seemed anti climatic. Poor kid! Grandma Lemon came over earlier in the day and gave him this cool shirt and some awesome Nike shoes. Most kids would be disappointed with shoes but not Tyler. In fact he also got cleats from Aunt Cindy and life was good for him. The night of the 24th he had to settle with a low key evening filled with immediate family, Grandma Verdie, presents, and brownies and ice cream. What is so great is Tyler didn't mind one bit, in fact he loved everything.
Now that he has turned 8 years old, he can finally be in scouts. He is so excited. For the past year he has been wearing Craig's old scout shirt anxiously waiting for his turn to be part of the pack. So now he finally has his own. Yippee!!!

He also received a suit and this shirt and tie to wear at his baptism.
Grandma Verdie gave him money and a BYU flashlight.
He got his own set of scriptures with a blue scripture case.
And sweet Sara gave him pencils and sea shells.

Tylers Football Birthday Party

On Feb. 20th we had Tyler's birthday party with his friends. This year he wanted a football party. The main thing he wanted to do is just play football, but since his birthday is in Feb. I talked him into playing other games that have to do with football. We started the party with them watching football highlights.
Then it was time to take what they learned and put it to the test. Ty and Steve practice hitting each other. The boys had to throw a football threw a hula hoop, run different routes and have different relays.

They started getting cold, so it was time to get warm by coming inside and eating hot dogs, nachos, drinks, and chips, "Football food."

Then we played hot potato with a football. There were many different rounds and many different winners. The boys could careless about the prizes they just wanted to be the winner.
Then it was time to pin the football on the up rights. Many did well while others didn't make it in.
Finally it was present time. The Lindes got Tyler a flag football kit.
Jonah got Ty this football that everyone had to touch! Girls say oh how cute! These boys were saying Cool!!!

Steve and Trey got Ty Jazz jersey. He was spoiled by all of his presents.
MaKray gave him a cool football, the one the Tyler has been wanting his whole life. After singing happy birthday and having ice cream cones, all the boys wanted to do is go and play football.
So we opened up the flag football kit, and they were all in heaven. There was enough for 2 teams, and lots of fun! Tyler ended up with the birthday he wanted. I should have just listened to him in the first place.
Before it was time to go, the boys had fun trading football cards with each other.

The next day Tyler got a call from his friend Carson who wasn't able to make it to the party inviting him to go to the Jazz game that night with him. Tyler couldn't have dreamed of a better week than this.

Jazz vs. Celtics

Feb. 19th finally came. I don't know who was more excited Craig or Tyler. They both acted like little kids on the Christmas Eve, waiting so anxiously to see Santa Claus. They left early for the game so that they could eat and then go to Energy S0lutions Arena early so they could go down to the floor and see the players warm up. Tyler was just awe struck when he saw the team warming up. He even tried giving the players five when they came out of the tunnel, but his arms were a little to short.
Craig found the best seats. Tyler approved. Craig spent hours on the computer checking availability, then seeing what the view would be and then checking some more and more. Finally I told him just buy some tickets and be done. He was losing to much sleep over which tickets to purchase. Fatherly love is great!!!

Players getting ready to start the game.
Okur at the line. This was a crucial part in the game for Jazz to get the win over the Celtics.
Tyler was so excited the Jazz won. He got lots of treasures from people handing out free things, and I had one tired son when he got home at 12:30 a.m. on a school night. But losing a little sleep was well worth having this time with his dad, at his first Jazz game. A memory he will have forever.

Fast Break

Tyler stealing the ball in his last Little Hoopster's Game on Feb. 17th

Will he get passed the defense? Yep!! He just bounces the ball to the other side and uses the left hand to dribble so they can't steal the ball away.
Closer to the basket he goes.
A spin move to help get the defense off of him so . . .
he can shoot a basket!
A jump shot it is
with an incredible follow through but . . .
will the ball go in???
Of Course! Another 2 points for Tyler! Way to go bud! I love coming and watching you play sports. You are so good, it amazes me! Your abilities and knowledge of sports are unbelievable especially for someone at your age! Keep playing~ I love you.
