Nicole struggled this year, trying to figure out what theme to have her party be. We went through 3 books of ideas, plus the internet trying to come up with something. Finally, a week before her party, she decided on the Pirate Theme. Which kind of makes me laugh because she is a girl, and girls are suppose to have Princess parties, ect. at this age. But leave it to Nicole to go against the grain and pick a theme that is more boyish.
However, with that being said, the party was a blast, and all the girls had a great time. First I had set everything up out side, and then a big black cloud showed up. So 5 minutes before the party was to start, we grabbed everything to pull it off in the house. Which was a challenge, since we had a swimming pool full of water with a board over it to walk the plank, the treasure hunts clues were all to outside areas, we had games that included sinking ships where you threw water balloons at the ships. Lets just say I was MAD for a moment. But as it started to rain I am glad we decided to bring it in the house. The bad thing was, it only rained for a few minutes.
When the kids got to the house, we put bandanas on them and some material around their waist. Then since it wasn't raining, we split the kids into two groups and had a race to see who could sink the other teams ship first. My mom drew ships on black card stock with chalk. So when the kids threw water balloons at the ships they would erase. The first team to get the ship erased first sunk the ship and won. The kids had fun, even though some of the cannons (water balloons) didn't pop until they hit the ground.
Next it was time to pin the patch on the pirate. The kids at the end all recieved eye patches.
How cute they all look. Aarr ye mateys! After pin the patch on the pirate we played musical islands. They all recieved telescopes when their island was called out. Then we played a bean bag toss, gold coins into a treasure box. They all recieved a few gold pieces that they could use to buy their desserts and jewerly with.
Then it was time to go down stairs and do the obstacle course. They first had to walk the plank, then crawl under cannons,
get to the ship, throw 3 cannons at the ship (balls, it was suppose to have been water balloons) and then climb back under the cannons, walk the plank. Once they did that the time stopped. Each pirate recieved a gold earing and some rings.
Then it was treat time. We had sword popsicles. Yummy!!!
After treats, Nicole opened presents. One of the boys got her some jewrely. Well, she was excited. There was a ring, necklace, and earings in the set. She yelled, It is like I am getting married. She was so tickled at the thought of getting married. The boy that gave it to her, Blake, went red and the other boys teased him saying, You're going to marry Nicole? It was hilarious.
After presents, it was time to look for the treasure. Nicole read the first clue.
After many clues, they finally found their treasure. . . Ring pops, gold coins, braclets, rings, necklaces, whales crackers, carribean blue drink, and salt water taffy.
What a fun party!!! Aaargg ye Mateys!!! Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life for Me!!!
